Transport

I rented a car from Discover Mongolia Car Rental which is based at Mongolia International Airport. I went inside and was met with friendly service. A man told me advanced information about the car I was picking up. He told me that it was air conditioned, which I knew I needed because the roads were hot in Mongolia.

He then led me into the car shed which was filled with all their good value top selling cars. There were so many I lost track of counting. He showed me  my selection. It was an efficient silver Toyota Verossa. The car had four black leather seats and a CD player. Then the man gave me the manual. The first section was safety, It explained how good the seat belts were and that it had air bags and safe locks complete with loud alarms. I then found out what type of fuel the car took, it was regular. In the popular Toyota Verossa you can drive 40 kilometres using one litre of petrol. The car boot can hold four suitcases. The car has locks and has alarms built into the electronics. As long as you remember to lock the car there Is no chance of anyone breaking in and stealing your luggage.

As long as you don't stay over two months your New Zealand licence will be fine and you don't have to transfer over into a Mongolian one.

If any damage happens to your car you can get insurance. Insurance only costs $38.00 per day.

With the Toyota Verossa I travelled to Tavan Bogd where I went rafting then to Sakura Restaurant which is one of  the most popular traditional restaurants in Mongolia.

The cost of the car is $84.64 per day. Which adds up to an unbelievable total of $388.00. The petrol cost was $61.48 altogether.
